Youth group- 11-18 years
The youth group is on every Thursday afternoon and is currently via zoom. It is an opportunity for young people to socialise and make new friends whilst being involved in projects, fun activities and confidence building challenges. We partner with organisations such as Healthwatch Rochdale and Link4life bringing in a variety of opportunities for young people to get involved in. Each week we have different activities like baking, tie dye t-shirts, competitions, quizzes, music, arts and crafts.
We have launched our first online support youth group named Aim2Game. Young people and a key worker take part in a Minecraft focused session. The young people have aims and goals that they have set each session and aim to achieve together. Through Covid-19 we have been fortunate enough to spend time listening to what our young people want. This project is young person led and very much changes depending on what they tell us they would like to explore. So far young people have shown team work, empathy, creativity, problem solving and had fun in positive way whilst gaming. This is the first gaming group RCT have developed but we are excited to see where it leads.
We are running a series of sessions for young girls that we have identified have issues with similar themes such as anger, identity or body image issues. These sessions are targeted at young girls we already have a relationship with on one of our programmes and aim to improve self worth, confidence and self esteem. Each week covers a different topic looking at how we treat others, healthy relationships and self care.
Happier Children youth group or Minis as the young people have name it is every week on zoom, It is for children aged 4-11 years and aims to work with young people that have experienced domestic abuse giving them a safe space to have fun.
