Local Focus with Deep Community Roots: Founded in 1997 by local Youth Court Magistrates, RCT has become deeply embedded in the diverse communities of Rochdale, Heywood, Middleton, and The Pennines townships allowing us to understand and address the specific needs of our community.
Evolution of Services: RCT has evolved from its initial youth-focused mentoring program to become the largest independent provider of domestic abuse services in the borough, demonstrating our ability to adapt to changing community needs.
Whole Family Approach: At RCT we don’t just focus on 1 issue. We understand there are broader implications and therefore take a comprehensive approach by supporting vulnerable and disadvantaged children, young people, and their families. This holistic strategy addresses interconnected issues within families.
Diverse Range of Services: RCT offers a unique combination of services including domestic abuse support, family support, targeted youth interventions, counselling, parenting courses, and healthy living programs.
Volunteer-Driven: We understand the importance of local volunteers. With approximately 70 volunteers supporting 24 staff members, RCT leverages community involvement to extend its reach and impact.
Tailored Interventions: RCT provides intensive, supportive interventions designed to prevent disengagement, including bespoke mentoring support, group work, and one-on-one sessions.
Commitment to Personal Growth: Our mission statement, "Working together for positive change and a brighter future for all," emphasizes our focus on fostering personal growth and creating a safe, accepting space for all who use our services.

WHERE WE BEGAN
We were founded in 1997 by a group of local Youth Court Magistrates concerned by the number of young people being presented to them who were not engaging with their education whilst having little or no family support. After working with the young people, they realised that for their support offer to be the most effective they needed to take a whole family approach. To achieve this, they employed key workers to offer supportive mentoring and interventions based off needs identified for the individual family. Volunteer Mentors were then recruited and trained to provide continuing support to the clients and their families.
RCT TODAY
We remain fully committed to supporting vulnerable and disadvantaged children, young people, and their families through intensive, tailored interventions, including mentoring, group work, and 1:1 sessions, as well as dedicated family support.
Our approach is tailored to meet each family's unique needs, ensuring they stay engaged and receive the best possible support.
