The Phoenix group has recently been set up at RCT. It is for women who have experienced or are currently in a domestic abuse relationship.
The Phoenix group provides women a safe, friendly and non-judgemental environment to talk and be themselves. The programme focuses on enabling women to manage their mental wellbeing, general health, recognize signs of domestic violence/abuse and how to stay safe.
The group is split into two sessions a week. Our Monday’s session is focused on doing practical fun activities with the women. Sessions on Monday include cooking, poetry writing, and art and fun games. This allows women to build friendships, learn new skills and motivate them for the week ahead.
Our Friday’s session focuses on how the women can get through the weekend as this can be a difficult time for our ladies. During Friday’s we will be running sessions to support the women with their mental health, as well as providing tools for debt management, safety planning and recognising signs of domestic abuse.
Each session is provided with food and hot beverages.
The group is running Monday afternoons 1-3pm, and Friday mornings 11-1pm until March 2022.
