The Haven Project is a peer support group for females who have experienced, or are currently in a domestic abuse relationship, and was created to provide women with a safe, friendly, and non-judgmental environment to talk and be themselves.
The programme focuses on enabling women to manage their mental wellbeing and general health, recognise signs of domestic violence or abuse, and learn how to stay safe.
Sessions include knowledge building, art, and fun games to help women to build friendships and learn new skills.
Other services have contributed by delivering short courses at some of the sessions. Living Well have kindly run short courses on Defib & CPR, 5 Ways 2 Wellbeing, Eating Well, Assertiveness and Sleeping Well and Daisy from ELP has delivered Resilience training to participants.
Some of the cooking sessions are themed to coincide with National Events such as Shrove Tuesday (where pancakes were served). We have also held film nights and beauty and pampering sessions. The Haven Project is focused on empowering participants and providing opportunities they would not ordinarily participate in. This group were invited to Brussels to visit the EU Commission and European Parliament and recently enjoyed attending the theatre production "Chip Shop Chips" at Touchstones . |
