CARING DAD'S
'HELPING FATHERS VALUE THEIR CHILDREN'
It exists to change current practice to better include fathers in efforts to enhance the safety and well-being of their children.
It is specifically for men who have abused and neglected their children or exposed them to abuse of their mother. The aim is to help men take accountability for their actions, address attitudes to parenting and promote healthy relationships between parent and child. Feedback from Group 1 of Caring Dads.
'At the start of this course I didn’t have much faith in it, but I decided to keep an open mind about it. In the 8 weeks that I have been doing it I have learned that a lot of my actions/ behaviours wasn’t acceptable and that I needed to consciously change them. I’ve come across certain topics that I felt strongly about and wanted to give my opinion on and advice to the other dads. The group that we have is incredibly friendly and easy to get along with and I can comfortably be open about the situations in my life that has led me to be on this course. Each week I am learning more and more that I am putting into practice to become a better parent as well as a better person. I hope that dads in future courses will take as much away from it that I have and hope each week I am able to learn from' |
