Vivien Carter MBE is the Chair of the Board of Trustees and the original driving force behind the Charity's creation; working tirelessly to engage local supporters and services until sufficient funding was raised and resources allocated to allow the Charity to be founded.
She taught in a local secondary school for a number of years before moving to work in industry for 22 years. Subsequently she was the Education Director of a company providing ESOL provision. Vivien was a Magistrate for 40 years and served on the Probation Board for a number of years. Vivien was appointed as a Deputy Lieutenant for the Greater Manchester Lieutenancy in 2005 and was made a Member of the British Empire in 2006. Vivien was appointed as a Trustee of the Manchester Guardian Society in 2008 and remains in post.
